We are called and challenged to pray. The apostle Paul refers to “praying without ceasing.” This means a life of fellowship and continual communication with a personal heavenly Father. Both the Old and New Testament teach that we can have such a meaningful relationship with God that we are able to hear Him as though it was a conversation.

Putting Feet to our Prayers

We are called and challenged to pray. The apostle Paul refers to “praying without ceasing.” This means a life of fellowship and continual communication with a personal heavenly Father. Both the Old and New Testament teach that we can have such a meaningful relationship with God that we are able to hear Him as though it was a conversation.

I have been asked, “Do you actually hear God out loud?” I answer, “LOUDER than out loud! It impacts my entire being.” It is something very difficult to explain, but wonderful to experience. Even His still, small voice can be heard clearly. His voice can be similar to the sound of many waters or thunder, but always as friend and Father. Please believe this. Believe Him and His Word. He invites you to not only talk to Him and to pray, but also to listen and hear His voice. We are called to intercede for others, to bring our requests boldly before His throne of grace. We have God’s promise to hear us and answer — not always the answer we want, but always the truth in love. May God help us to learn to hear one another as He hears us and responds.

Through the prophet Jeremiah God said, “Call on Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you know not.” The New Testament tells us that God will answer and do that which is beyond our greatest expectation or comprehension. For all of His answers to prayer, I say thanks be to God and to Him be the glory!

As I shared last week, at this time in our lives and in the life of America, I have never sensed a greater need to pray for spiritual awakening and for the restoration of freedom’s foundation. Many sensitive, caring people are deeply disturbed (and rightly so) concerning the direction of our nation. Many leaders are trying to divide the country by encouraging class warfare by accusing those who are prosperous because of the greed and excesses within their economic group. They are placing fault on the opportunities and possibilities that our founders put in place.

Without repentance and a return to God and His truth, our national economy and that of the world will collapse. National leaders are encouraging the redistribution of wealth which will ultimately bring a new level of poverty to every person in the United States. Don’t detest and become hostile toward success and prosperity. Detest greed and indifference. Detest the actions of men and governments that force their ways on the population and confiscate what others have while demanding dependence upon government power and control.

Remember, God said if His people called by His name will pray and seek His face, turning from their wicked ways, He will hear, He will forgive, and He will restore their land. Does this mean that we simply talk to God, share our requests, acknowledging that we recognize and are sorry for our sin, or does it imply that we also do something by taking action in some positive way?

Repentance is a change of mind, of direction and actions, and we choose to do things differently. It certainly implies assuming responsibility. Remember, true faith is confirmed by works, by faith working in and through us. The difference in us makes a difference in this dark, deceived world. We crash the gates of hell in the power of God, bringing about the necessary restoration of all which the enemy seeks to destroy or control. In a constitutional republic, we must be committed, responsible citizens expressing our concern and supporting the principles consistent with God’s Word. The privileges we enjoy demand that we live to protect and preserve them.

There is an all-out assault on truth, God, families, marriages, the Christian church, people of truth and faith, and freedom as our founders established it. This is a time for prayer and I agree with my dear friend Charles Stanley as he calls all of us to pray and see our nation repent (www.intouch.org). Pray for our leaders to come to their senses, to be changed by God’s power and truth, and for the church to wake up and stand up!

I often share with our LIFE Today television audience that one of the best ways to get your prayers answered is by seeking to be an answer to someone else’s prayers. When you see a need, seek to meet it while you pray. As you pray for someone in pain or distress, ask God if you can relieve them in some way.

As you pray for America, put feet to your prayers by declaring truth, defending it openly and boldly without wavering. Stand against the tide of evil and the lies continually promoted by biased media, manipulating politicians, God-denying educators, and radicals seeking to divide and conquer. There are many presently in power who actually follow a Marxist philosophy by using the plight of the poor to promote the power of the state and take control of the population. These philosophies and those who accept and promote them and seek to follow them are inspired by people who openly profess to be non-believers. Any reference to God and faith is simply accommodating; it is not something that they practice. These beliefs are as dangerous to our way of life as any radical Islamic extremists.

I encourage you to become better informed about the faith of our founding fathers and the importance of their principles. Read the Constitution. Read the commentaries I have written over the past months and pass them on. I am in continual prayer and research, trying to condense the facts and bring them to your attention.

Encourage people of character to lead and even consider running for political office on the local, state and national level. Support those who have principled convictions. Vote and encourage others to become better informed and involved. ALWAYS vote principles over party and personality, but by all means vote and commit to stay involved until this nation adjusts its course in line with truth and the safety that can only be found in the shelter of the Almighty.

Look beyond your small world and help change the world by making a difference in the lives of others. Live to fulfill Christ’s commission to help disciple both individuals and the nations starting right here in America!

  1. DEAR JAMES,
I CALL YOU FATHER BECAUSE I BELIEVE, THAT YOU SPEAK THE GOD THE FATHER’S HEART. IT IS SO TRUE THAT ONE CAN SEE THAT OUR COUNTRY IS ON THE CLIFF AND, NEEDS TO MAKE A DECISION: QUICKLY !IF WE CONTINUE TO BURY OUR HEADS IN THE SAND, AS MANY CHRISTIANS ARE DOING , THEN THE RESULTS WILL BE DISASTROUS.WE WILL FALL OVER THE CLIFF AND, THE ENEMY WILL HAVE SO MANY SOULS IN HIS POCKET.
YET, IF WE DO AS YOU SAY , FATHER JAMES, AND REPENT OF OUR EVIL WAYS, TURN AROUND AND BECOME INVOLVED IN THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH OUR COUNTRY ALLOWS US TO SPEAK , THEN WE CAN BE A VOICE ” CRYING OUT IN THE WILDERNESS, PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD .” WHEN WE ENTER INTO PRAYER WITH GOD, PLEASE BE LIKE JAMES HAS TAUGHT ME FROM HIS TV SERIES, BE COURTEOUS ENOUGH TO LISTEN TO THE LORD SPEAKING BACK TO US. I FIRMLY BELIEVE WITH ALL MY HEART , THAT GOD ALWAYS IS WAITING TO SPEAK TO US. WE JUST HAVE TO PRACTISE SPIRITUAL PATIENCE AND LISTEN FOR HIS STILL QUIET VOICE THAT WILL RING WITH TRUE LOVE TO YOUR SPIRIT. GOD IS OUR DIRECTOR SO LET US GO TO HIM TO HEAR WHAT PART HE IS ASKING US TO PLAY IN HIS WONDERFUL MUSICAL OF LIFE . REMEMBER, WE ARE HIS BEAUTIFUL BRIDE! THE BRIDE OF CHRIST !

  2. You confirmed to Glenn Beck that God spoke to him.

So when does God speak to Mormons in light of this scripture as if He were working with them?

2 Corinthians 11:3-5 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
3 But I fear that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your minds may be corrupted from a complete and pure devotion to Christ. 4 For if a person comes and preaches another Jesus, whom we did not preach, or you receive a different spirit, which you had not received, or a different gospel, which you had not accepted, you put up with it splendidly!

Galatians 1:6-9 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
6 I am amazed that you are so quickly turning away from Him who called you by the grace of Christ, [and are turning] to a different gospel— 7 not that there is another [gospel], but there are some who are troubling you and want to change the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel other than what we have preached to you, a curse be on him! 9 As we have said before, I now say again: if anyone preaches to you a gospel contrary to what you received, a curse be on him!

    and again:

2 John 1:9-11 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
9 Anyone who does not remain in the teaching about Christ, but goes beyond it, does not have God. The one who remains in that teaching, this one has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your home, and don’t say, “Welcome,” to him; 11 for the one who says, “Welcome,” to him shares in his evil works.

With respect, what are you doing? You have no proof that God spoke to him at all. That is your opinion and with respect to scripture I totally doubt that claim. Should you rather had talked to him about who Jesus really is?
Serious. You servering God or man? Tell the truth to him.

  3. Technically, the statement was this (from the transcript):

Glenn, it was about the same time you referenced The Villages time when God told you that it, really the issue was not merely political but it was spiritual, we needed a spiritual awakening, we needed a revival, and you indicate — actually this very same day you and I talked you heard from God very directly. And I want to say to you, thank you for really seeking to help wake up a sleeping church…”

James was referring to Glenn Beck’s claim that he hard from God that we needed a revival. James did not refute or affirm Glenn’s claim that he heard from God, but thanked him for speaking out and encouraging revival in America. When I asked him about this part of the conversation, James said, “Am I embracing Mormonism? No, of course not. But am I embracing Glenn? Yes.”
