The Consequences of Folly

All of you who follow our ministry and read this weekly commentary know of our deep concern for the condition of the church and our beloved nation. Early one recent morning during a time of reflection, the Lord prompted me to pick up my Bible and directed me to the following scriptures:

 “Make this announcement to Israel,
and say this to Judah:
Listen, you foolish and senseless people,
with eyes that do not see
and ears that do not hear.
Have you no respect for me?
Why don’t you tremble in my presence?
I, the Lord, define the ocean’s sandy shoreline
as an everlasting boundary that the waters cannot cross.
The waves may toss and roar,
but they can never pass the boundaries I set.
But my people have stubborn and rebellious hearts.
They have turned away and abandoned me.
They do not say from the heart,
‘Let us live in awe of the Lord our God,
for he gives us rain each spring and fall,
assuring us of a harvest when the time is right.’
Your wickedness has deprived you of these wonderful blessings.
Your sin has robbed you of all these good things.” (Jer. 5:20-25, NLT)

After reading this passage, I felt the Lord was reaffirming the precarious, even perilous, condition of our nation. There is such a strong parallel here between Israel and America. God had commanded the prophet to speak to the nation of Israel. He referenced them as “foolish, senseless people” with eyes that do not see clearly, if at all, and ears that have been dulled or even deafened as it relates to truth. The term “senseless” refers to their lack of sound judgment and wisdom.

I am reminded of the noble suggestions concerning America’s challenges that President Obama referenced in his inaugural speech. None of them can be properly dealt with apart from wisdom that only comes from above. The idea of government as the primary solution to our nation’s pressing problems, rather than one of the greatest contributors to the problems, will lead to absolute failure. All the hope of people coming together will be lost without the power and love that can only be found in the unlimited love of our heavenly Father. Sitting in the counsel of the ungodly or listening to those with an inverted worldview will continually contribute to the crisis and compound the problems.

American leadership and extreme partisan politics clearly indicate that much of the population is unable to discern what is best, and they lack the commitment necessary to make meaningful changes. What brought about this serious condition? Lack of respect for God contributes to our perilous condition. People do not live in awe of His presence because they have not witnessed firsthand the transforming power that comes when we abide in the presence of almighty God. Few Americans fear God and the consequences of rebellion because they have little respect and reverence for our heavenly Father. We will continue to see threats against our nation from without and threats against our children and families because there is little respect for national leadership or fear of the consequences of evil actions.

God illustrated the absolute importance of boundaries, which provide a hedge of protection, by referring to the boundaries that the waters of our ocean must not cross. When the waters rage beyond these boundaries (as in hurricanes, tsunamis or other natural disasters) the consequences are catastrophic and deadly. The seas must remain within the parameters God has set in order for the storm-tossed waters to be calmed and tranquility restored.

The same is true of human beings who foolishly and in selfish, sinful rebellion cross boundaries established by God. We can see the consequences of such actions. God said that because of stubborn, rebellious hearts, and the fact that people have abandoned Him and are not choosing to live in reverential awe of Him, the benefits of the spring rains and fall harvest will be lost. Wickedness has taken a toll on our economy, and brought about the loss of opportunity, blessing, and prosperity that can assist those in need.

The hedge of God’s protection and principles has been cast aside. When marriage is being redefined and the lives of innocent, unborn babies are being destroyed, America “continues to be deprived of wonderful blessings and robbed of all good things.” It is this rebellion against God that has led to the lack of judgment and excessive practices, leading us to our present place of economic despair, recession, and potential depression. Only the love of God will lift us above the division and polarization that prevents meaningful dialogue. The togetherness the president called “necessary” in his inaugural address will only occur when God is put back in first place.

The cure is to return to God. As 2 Chron. 7:14 says, “We must humble ourselves and pray, seek God’s face and turn from our wicked ways.” There is no greater wickedness than the refusal or failure to put God in the only place He can fill, and that is first place.

I found it interesting that as I shared this passage in Jeremiah with my wife and assistant, they both glanced at the verses preceding the passage (vv. 15-18) and saw how a foreign nation and people who speak a language we do not understand, one without wisdom, will come to devour the harvest, sons, daughters, flocks, herds, grapes, figs, and their security. A new belief system, a different—even godless—worldview will destroy peace, blessing, and prosperity.

If you wonder why this happens, the prophet Jeremiah said, because “you rejected God and gave yourselves to foreign gods in your own land; and now you will serve foreigners in a land that is not your own.” For Israel, it was an invading army taking over. For us, it is a pervasive, subversive, European-socialist worldview determined to control the thinking practices and policies of a nation. It will be the proven-to-fail worldview of foreign nations, and it has now come to America in the form of radical statism, progressivism, secularism, and a dependence on a source other than God. Never doubt, a dangerous sense of entitlement leads to dependence, which ultimately leads to bondage.

When this happens, we not only prove to be void of the wisdom and understanding necessary to make the decisions to get us out of the ditch, but also lack the character strengths necessary to restore the foundation, rebuild the walls, and accept the boundaries God has established. We never actually break the laws of God. We defy them, and the consequences of that rebellion will ultimately break us. Such is the case today. Just as Paul warned the Romans, “while professing to be wise, you proved to be fools.” The ungodly replace biblical absolutes with evolving views and substitute passionate politics for proper principles.

While the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, under the anointing of almighty God, sang the powerful words “His truth is marching on” at the inauguration, I couldn’t help but wonder about some policies and practices being encouraged by national leadership—ideas that discard and even deny the very truth the song reflects and commandments in the Bible upon which hands rested while taking the oath to uphold the Constitution. The modern “progressive” view is not a continuation of the founders’ visions, but a complete reversal. We need not look for the blessings of God upon people who refuse to acknowledge Him as God, who fail to bless Him by blessing others, and all the while expect Him to bless in spite of their disregard of Him, His truth and His Word.

There is hope when we allow God to change hearts and actions. He will renew our minds and pour out showers of blessings and restore the land. There’s no shortcut, but there is a simple solution: get right with God by putting Him, His Word, truth and, yes, commandments back in first place.

Betty and I celebrate 50 years of marriage and ministry this year. We are determined to lift Jesus high, while encouraging others to do the same, believing He will draw people unto Himself. The light of His glory and truth shines brightest in the darkest hours. Believers must live yielded and committed to God, enabling the world to see that He is our source, strength, and God. They must see His beauty and power in consistent, compassionate lives.

Please mark your calendar for July 18-20. We would love for you to join us for our anniversary celebration—a dynamic spiritual awakening conference that will be held at our home church, Gateway, in Southlake, Texas. We will bring back some of the powerful, anointed speakers that spoke at our annual Bible conferences in the past, as well as current gifted speakers who are delivering God’s Word to the church and nation at this moment in history. Be in prayer for the conference, and make plans now to attend.

There is a very strong and aggressive spirit in the minds of so many precious people who believe that since we are not under the Old Testament Law we have the freedom to do as we please because the grace of God will take care of everything. When a preacher speaks of sin and the penalties for disobedience of God’s word, it is viewed as heretical and outdated since the perception is that grace covers all sin and besides we are just human. The following statement by James appears to be old fashioned and comes across as being harsh and insensitive in the liberal society we live in. He says “The same is true of human beings who foolishly and in selfish, sinful rebellion cross boundaries established by God. We can see the consequences of such actions. God said that because of stubborn, rebellious hearts, and the fact that people have abandoned Him and are not choosing to live in reverential awe of Him, the benefits of the spring rains and fall harvest will be lost. Wickedness has taken a toll on our economy, and brought about the loss of opportunity, blessing, and prosperity that can assist those in need.”

The carnal mind is quickly offended by the seemingly harsh and brassy words and the question is asked “where are the love of God and the grace of God” in that statement? “You have no right to accuse anyone of folly and rebellion. We live in the age of grace and Jesus loves everyone.” If you my precious friend are someone who would entertain those types of thoughts, I would ask that you continue to read these comments.

Paul said in Galatians “Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.” Again in Romans 8 Paul speaks of us being “set free from the law of sin and death.” And yet, again in Romans Paul writes that we are “justified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ.” And of course we have the precious words of John who said “the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.” Each of these scriptures are true, very true, however, the real issue is not the truth of the scripture but, the misrepresentation of grace. The grace of Jesus Christ does not provide a license to sin and rebel against the word of God nor can grace be used as an excuse for ignorance of God’s truth. The scriptural reality is that grace itself is governed by a law which is called the “law of the spirit of life.”

In Romans 8 the Apostle Paul writes “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the ‘law of the Spirit of life’ in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” If we think that living under the age of grace is a skip through the park we are wrong. The penalty for rebelling against the “law of the spirit of life” is much more severe than the consequences of breaking the Law of Moses. Read carefully:

“If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the Law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” (Hebrews 10)

The grace and truth which came by Jesus Christ is not a cheap get out of jail free card you can pick up at the local church on the corner. We can see that the severe punishment to trample underfoot the Son of God insults the Spirit of grace and results in a harsher penalty. Some say James, “we are under grace, who are you to tell us we are rebelling against God?” Listen closely to Jesus:

“You have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment…”

“You have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, that whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”

“It has been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causes her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced commits adultery.”

“You have heard that it hath been said, an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, that you resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asked thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.”

‘You have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven…”

Jesus is revealing how the law of the Spirit of Life is manifested in his people. Jesus said to Nicodemus in John 3 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, except a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” This is how grace is manifested. The law of the Spirit of Life reveals the grace of Jesus Christ to us and baptizes us with his love and mercy so we recognize our sin, our folly, and our rebellion and repent and allow the Lord to cast those transgressions in the sea of his forgetfulness. The “law of the Spirit of life” opens up the revelation of Jesus Christ to our hearts and we realize that without him, we can do nothing.

  2. James,

This passionate and compassionate commentary is filled with the wisdom, love, and warnings of the Holy Spirit. I pray that people will be stirred by these words and come to know this Jesus you speak of. I want to send out by way of this comment a word of encouragement to you and your wife and to all the staff of Life Today. May the quickening power which raised Jesus Christ from the dead quicken his revelation to your hearts for the people of this last church age. May you stand as Caleb from the past generation who had another spirit with him, and has followed the Lord fully, and upon you will the Lord God pour out his blessings from his store house, and your seed will possess the kingdom of God.

The words you were inspired to write are the words the American people need to hear. You stated “We are determined to lift Jesus high, while encouraging others to do the same, believing He will draw people unto Himself. The light of His glory and truth shines brightest in the darkest hours.” This is the inauguration speech which should have taken place on Martin Luther King’s birthday. When President Obama laid his hand on that ole’ Christian soldiers Bible as he was sworn in for his second term, he should have lifted of his voice and said “We are determined to lift Jesus high, while encouraging others to do the same, believing He will draw people unto Himself. The light of His glory and truth shines brightest in the darkest hours.” Instead he spoke of the foolishness of men’s folly and the weak and beggarly elements which produces bondage.

Why do men subject themselves to the influence of Satan and fear to stand boldly before the world and proclaim the name of Jesus Christ? Why do they shirk away from the most precious person ever born of a woman, the God of creation humbling himself to the form of a child, hidden from the wise and prudent and revealed unto babes, such as will learn; Jesus Christ the Lord. The President should have placed his hand on that Bible and screamed out “We are determined to lift Jesus high, while encouraging others to do the same, believing He will draw people unto Himself. The light of His glory and truth shines brightest in the darkest hours.” This is the God Dr. Martin Luther King spoke of.

Dr. King said: “I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.” Dr. King was quoting from a prophecy delivered from the prophet Isaiah of the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, who was the revelation of the Father’s glory.

He continued “This is our hope. This is the faith with which I return to the South. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.” Dr. King was not looking to politics to make men free, but rather the glory of the Lord to reveal the true freedom found in the faith of the messiah. “This will be the day when all of God’s children will be able to sing with a new meaning, “My country, ’tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim’s pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring.”

We send out the same hope and faith of our brother who was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice and gave his life for this dream. “We are determined to lift Jesus high, while encouraging others to do the same, believing He will draw people unto Himself. The light of His glory and truth shines brightest in the darkest hours.”

  3. where does it say in the New Testament, the new Covenant, that God blesses or curses nations? Not trying to be critical, just wondering. I was taught Jesus came that we could be judged as individuals, so I just don’t understand this nation worship. So sad about your daughter and ask the Father to give you blessings that pass understanding.

  4. Laurence St. John

We have to ask ourselves where does folly, foolishness, and rebellion originate? It is imperative that we look to the author of such defiance and understand that there is a master at work in all of his unrighteous and deceptive vengeance. Jesus said “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and mammon.”

It is commonly accepted that the word mammon refers to riches, greed, or money. This is only part of the revelation. As in the above question where does the influence to place riches, greed, or money above God originate? The revelation of Jesus Christ on any subject always discerns the origin of the influence, the origin of the seed, and the origin of the idol. Whether we are discussing folly, foolishness, rebellion, greed or mammon these attributes according to Jesus have a master. This is why the first commandment states “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” or you shall have no other master before me.

We understand by the Holy Scripture that the two masters are Jesus Christ and Satan. Each master has attributes or characteristics and each master uses human vessels to express those attributes. Paul wrote in Galatians “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” It is clear that the fruits of the Spirit were manifested in fullness in the fleshly vessel the Father chose to reveal his nature, which was Jesus Christ. The word was made flesh. Christ is the master of the fruits of the Spirit.
Likewise, there is another master, Satan. He also has attributes or characteristics and he finds fleshly vessels he can manifest himself and demonstrate the unholy fruits of his spirit. The unholy fruits of Satan’s spirit are apathy, hatred, deception, greed, destruction, lies, murder, fear, unbelief, folly, rebellion, foolishness, and idolatry. I’m sure the list could go, but this provides a basic scriptural profile of Satan’s nature and we see it at work among humanity the same we see the scriptural profile of the nature of Jesus Christ among his church.
The unholy things we see manifested in this nation and around the globe are the manifestations of the fruits of Satan’s unholy spirit. He is the master of all unbelief, he is the master of all lies, he is the master of every antichrist teaching, he is the master of all hate and apathy, he is the master of all hypocrisy, he is the master of all pride and arrogance, he is the master of every sin and transgression revealed by the laws of Moses, and he is the master of all folly, rebellion, and foolishness.

But we have an exceeding and precious promise that Jesus Christ is the word made flesh. In him dwelt all the fullness of the Godhead bodily and in him we live and move and have our being. Jesus Christ is the master of all faith, he is the master of all truth, he is the master of all wisdom and understanding, he is the master of all humility, he is the master of all love, he is the master of all compassion, mercy and grace and he is the master of all salvation and redemption. These are the two masters at work in the earth.

Jesus said infallibly “no man can serve two masters.” Each of us, every individual is being forced to face the day of reckoning and we are asked to answer this question; “Choose you this day who you will serve.”

  5. James,

Thank you for your voice of wisdom. I am praying, you have the opportunity to sit for one hour, with President Obama and his staff. The subject should be what you have written above. I love you Brother, and thank you for teaching me.

  6. James,

After reading your commentary again, I was drawn to this statement you made: …”We never actually break the laws of God. We defy them, and the consequences of that rebellion will ultimately break us. Such is the case today. Just as Paul warned the Romans, “while professing to be wise, you proved to be fools.” The ungodly replace biblical absolutes with evolving views and substitute passionate politics for proper principles.”

As I am writing this my heart is broken to realize what is taking place in this nation and in the hearts of so many of its citizens. The Holy Spirit brings to my attention Psalm 1 which reads, “Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But, his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law he meditates day and night.

And he will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also will not wither; and whatever he does will prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the ungodly will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly will perish.”

We understand that the first covenant law under Moses revealed to man his sinful nature. The scriptural reference in Romans makes plain that this covenant was the “law of sin and death.” Paul continues in Romans when he writes “for what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh.” The coming manifestation and revelation of Jesus Christ under the new covenant revealed the “law of the spirit of life” Paul also writes of in Romans. This law is the saving grace of the Father, through Jesus Christ, not by a “carnal commandment but, after the power of an endless life” according to Hebrews 7. This is the quickening power of the Holy Spirit in a repentant heart making manifest the very nature of the incorruptible seed, which is “Christ in us, the hope of glory.”

This is the law we delight in. This is the law we meditate day and night. This is the law the ungodly ‘defies’ as you mentioned in your statement. The ungodly delight in ungodly counsel (antichrist politics, antichrist philosophy) and are standing in the place of sinners which, is rebellion and unbelief; the ungodly sit in the seat of the scornful and as you stated “replace biblical absolutes with evolving views and substitute passionate politics for proper principles.” The church of Jesus Christ was never built on ungodly evolving views and passionate politics but, lives “by every word which comes from the mouth of God.”

The Spirit of prophecy in Psalm 1 is emphatic: “the way of the ungodly will be uprooted; the way of the ungodly will not produce fruit; the way of the ungodly will wither; the way of the ungodly will not prosper; the way of the ungodly are like chaff which the wind drives away; the way of the ungodly will lead to destruction and they will perish.” Our hearts are heavily burdened and we smite our chest, bow our heads, and pray Lord have mercy on us “for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.”

  7. Dear James:

I do not know if you read all of these comments, but I have for a long time wanted to thank you and your wife for you very long ministry. I lisened to you way back before your said “deliverance” and was delighted to read the book you wrote afterward.

I am a retired Navy man. I enlisted in 1952 and in 1954, by our Lords amazing grace sent me to the Naval Academy. I graduated in ’58 and flew naval aircraft for the next twenty-two years. I tell you that only because I want you to know where I am coming from.

Of the many men that I have known there are only a few left for whom I have always wanted to meet and shake hands. One of the is Oliver North and the other one is you.

God bless you, and know that this is one guy who appriciates your ministry.

  8. Our LORD is sovereign
He sets up kings and disposes them, He changes times and seasons. Knowledge and wisdom are his. He knows what lies in darkness and all light dwells with him.
Praise God’! He holds us in the palm of his hand. He is moving his kingdom Calender forward. Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven

  9. Laurence St. John

    My precious Bro. James,

The title of your commentary explains it all. The Bible is a book of prophecy and the revelation of Jesus Christ details his prophecy from Genesis, the beginning, to the end, the Revelation. All else if folly and vanity and vexation of spirit. The prophecies hidden in the scriptures testify of him. The word of truth in him said to the Pharisees “You search the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life, but the testify of me. The prophetic scriptures unveil the august majesty and glory of Jesus Christ, the incorruptible seed word made flesh. When Elohim (the plurality of divine attributes) said “let there be light, and there was light, that light was Jesus Christ manifested in the glory of his father. Concerning John the Baptist it was said, “he was not that light, but was sent to bear witness of that light …Concerning Jesus it reads ” in him was life and the life is the light of man who lights every man who comes into the world. Jesus said “I am the light of the world”.

This government does not embrace Jesus Christ as the light to lead us out of this gross darkness. For thus saith the Lord, the swearing in of the president on a true man of God’s Bible opened up the plagues of unbelief and a seared conscious on this administration. They will continue to search for peace and safety, they will continue to worship their gods of politics, power, and money, they will perpetuate the anti-christ doctrine of the beast which causes all, small and great, rich and poor, bond and free to receive the mark of the beast whose names were not written in the Lambs book of life before the foundation of the world. The end result is adultery, death and a total separation from the Holy Spirit.

The president has drew the line in the sand, he will continue to embrace the scriptural Babylon of Hollywood and walk away from the Apostles and Prophets of the Almighty. Every nation who embraces Babylon and Sodom and Gomorrah will die without remedy. Come out of her my people, that you do not receive of her plagues. This is the day of your visitation. This is the day of awakening. This is the day of reckoning. This is the day of vengeance of the LORD. Come out of her my people, run to the ark of safety, Jesus Christ.

The heavens will be shaken, the firmament will be torn away, and the earth will shake under the wrath of the Alimighty. The works of man will be burned up. Run President Obama, run to Jesus Christ. Run, Run, Run to the fountain of living water. You are playing into the hands of the mark of the beast. Unbelief and the anti-christ spirit has over taken you. Your are a pawn under the influence of Satan. Repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Thus saith the LORD.

  10. I believe what we are experiencing in our nation at this time is just a sign of the times we live in. Yes, I want more than anything for our country to be restored to its greatness and follow the Lord, but I’m not sure that will ever happen. We can, however, be about our Father’s business and make as many disciples as we can. I’m praying for God to have mercy on us; to give us the time and whatever is necessary to accomplish this. I still do say God bless America, but even more, God bless Your Church!

  11. great word james, yes the hedge of protection has been breached, god have mercy on our country,,

  12. It seems our government system and those running it are insane…insane means continuing to do the same thing but expecting different results. Can we really believe we can defy God and mock His ways and His messengers and be blessed?
Why can they not see in history all of the other civilizations that became more and more corrupt and our now gone….because they are blind and dull of hearing!

  13. I couldn’t agree more! Thank you for this blessed message. And thank you for bringing me to Christ as a child at a James Robison Crusade in Alvin, Texas. May God continue to bless your ministry.

  14. It grieves me to find myself agreeing with you. Not because of what you say so nicely, but the truth of what you say and the condition we find our country in. The blind are leading the blind, our walls have been knocked down and enemies are invading on many sides and the church is asleep. I see the Holy Spirit sending warnings to us but many times falling on deaf ears. God is good and He is long suffering but as you said,” The modern “progressive” view is not a continuation of the founders’ visions, but a complete reversal,” I grieve for our country and the church who should be able to rescue.

  15. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Proverbs 1:7)

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work, because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed. (Proverbs 13:20)
