The Decline of a Great Nation

Post 30 of 182

President Obama or Gov. Romney, Democrats or Republicans, have never been and never will be our hope. The Lord is our hope and will offer help if we will turn to Him in humility and brokenness allowing Him to heal first our hearts and then our land. God’s own family – the church – needs to set the example in unity and wise reasoning, while visibly demonstrating how to work together so the world groping in darkness can see the power of love and truth in action. As my friend Rev. Samuel Rodriguez said, “Unless the agenda of the Lamb replaces the agenda of the donkey or the elephant, there will be no correction of our dangerous course.”

As I have repeatedly said for years now, the issue is not so much an election as it is a direction. Necessary correction for the United States of America continues and would regardless of who won Tuesday’s election. We must learn important lessons. The ever increasing pressure on a nation that has forsaken God in too many ways will intensify until in humility we fall on our knees before God or in humiliation are brought to our knees through crushing consequences, the result of forsaking God and sound biblical principles.

When expressing appreciation for the outcome of the election, President Obama rightly said that we must pull together as a family, caring for one another, and make necessary course corrections such as bringing excessive spending and debt under control. He emphasized the importance of learning how to effectively deal with our challenges and work across party lines. (This would in itself be a supernatural work.) Without a miracle of transformed thinking – the result of minds renewed by God’s love and truth – our direction will not change in a meaningful way. It requires changed people to change nations and rewrite history as only God can, through yielded believers and determined citizens.

President Obama also referenced the importance of reforming our tax code. In order to do this, people must experience renewed thinking because most Americans must be taught about the necessity and meaning of the fair tax. The President is right, however, concerning this need for reform. The economy will never be stabilized until we correct it and release the private sector to provide jobs and opportunity. Successful people must also begin expressing compassionate interest in the well-being of those who struggle, while everyone is taught the importance of assuming personal responsibility. Fatherlessness has led this present generation to erroneously seek to find a father in the federal government. There is only one Father who can give us the wisdom, guidance, and will to accomplish what is required.

I am still wondering if only a severe shaking and ultimate humiliation will be necessary before both the church and nation turn to God in genuine repentance. With God’s help and His grace, we must all be faithful witnesses and as ministers proclaim His word fearlessly and faithfully. We must continually offer hope and help to the downtrodden, overlooked, and often forgotten people here and around the world. We are commissioned by Christ to be salt and light, Spirit-filled witnesses, and makers of disciples among the nations.

Too many Americans have been trained to want someone other than God to care for them and consistently fail to truly love their neighbors as themselves. People are on the brink of trusting what the Old Testament prophets referred to as “the shadow of Egypt” (the ways of the world) and in another type of Pharaoh rather than in the shelter of the Almighty and as a result we are headed for bondage from which only God can deliver us. The Lord remains our hope.

What do we do now? We must continue to hold up the light of Christ, pray fervently, witness continually, and keep standing for the kingdom of God right here, right now.

Permit me to share a letter written with concern from Christian friends in Germany. Please consider it, pray earnestly, and perhaps pass my comments and the content of the following to others who care.

Our Dear America:

Today, Obama has been re‐elected; all the efforts of many Christian leaders, prayer movements, “prophets” and “concerned Americans” who have lobbied, written appeals, articles, books, letters ‐ some have even done films ‐ to warn not to vote for him have come to nothing. Many of them have behaved as if the future of the Kingdom of God is at stake. Well, it is not.

Can we, as foreigners who dearly love you as a people, say a few words into this situation? Because it is evident to us that God has a clear plan with your nation. But many don´t seem to see it, and therefore run the danger of fighting the wrong fight, wasting precious time and resources, and even endlessly call upon God to do what He just will not do.

The German weekly Der Spiegel, kind of a German Time Magazine, has a cover picture of Uncle Sam in bed, titled, “The American Patient: The Decline of a Great Nation.” We think this is a prophetic picture. As your friends, we know, acknowledge and admire that America has had a great past. But how will your future look like?

God chastises whom he loves because he knows: pride will come before the fall, and humbleness and brokenness is the only condition he responds to. We personally sense we need to tell you: the destiny of your nation is in God’s hands, not yours. It is not at all about Obama or Romney, it is about God using all the nations in the world according to his global and unchanging plans. Did you ever allow the thought that God in his sovereignty is using Obama like a pawn on his chessboard to humble the U.S. as a nation because he wants to show his grace to a nation gone completely self-sufficient?

A nation that is so full of independence, individualism, nationalism and trusting a greed and fear‐based economy that there may be only one way open to heal it from its idolatry and re‐align itself with the Kingdom of God: a crisis beyond anything that America has ever seen?

In 2008, God has been challenged by a man standing up in public, preaching to the cheers of a huge crowd: “Yes we can!” We watched it; we saw the tears of excitement in the eyes of the people; the statements were received as if coming from the Messiah himself, and the electoral rallies had all the flavor of a religious revival. “Yes, we can” is the exact opposite of the King of kings saying: “Without me, you can do nothing!”

If God is the one who “deposes kings and raises up others” (Dan 2:21), does it really matter what are the names of the current puppets set in place by God that advance both the New World Order and the Kingdom of God? Neither Herod, Pilate, nor Caesar were truly important for the development of the Kingdom. That is exactly why Kingdom people do not play in the Second League, but the First, the one that matters. The one that puts the Kingdom first, and everything else – including their own nation – second.

The problem of the current commotion and insecurities arises when even the people that call themselves after God keep confusing the Kingdom of God with the United States of America. And when that happens, especially through Christians with a public voice, then we have truly lost all perspective of the coming Kingdom of Jesus Christ and the predictions he has made that will precede his coming.

America is being publicly humbled by God; and he is going to use Obama – and those after him ‐ to further advance his agenda that will lead all nations to kneel before that one true King Jesus very soon. If any nation wants to become a tower that reaches up to high heaven, it will be humbled by a God who will not share his glory with people relying on their own strength.

America, where do you go from here? What does this mean for you? The future is going to be very, very rough. Your securities will vanish, the economy will go down, the education system will become even worse, the streets more dangerous, the churches even more divided, the youth even more disillusioned – unless there is a true movement that abandons all those idols mentioned above, and radically repents, makes a radical alignment with the King of the Kingdom of God and his constitution, live the Law of Christ in all areas of life, first and foremost in the areas of sex, money, power and how we “do church”. This is a defining moment for you as a nation. You could go down, as the German journalist of Der Spiegel predicted. Or, America could be literally re‐invented by Kingdom people who are ready to implode the prevailing myths about America’s greatness, and replace it by God’s greatness. The King has even greater things purposed and would fulfill those purpose if those who call themselves after Jesus the King, would turn away from their self‐made religion, self‐made churches and religious factions, self‐made visions of success, and their self‐made, harmless God.

Can we lovingly but urgently call you back at this hour to begin and initiate a movement to reposition and repatriate yourselves into the eternal Kingdom, by submitting yourself not only in theory but also in practical deeds to Jesus the King, starting to obey the King and his liberating decrees in all the areas that count? You might even want to write a declaration of dependence on God and each other, because by idolizing anything else before and over God, you will become illegal aliens in the country that counts, where we all are called to have our home: the Kingdom, the one place where our true citizenship, nationality and allegiance lies (Phil 3:20). This is the only one country that will not be shaken, as it has an unchanging King.

If there is any way that we can help you in this great challenge and task – we want you to know we will.

No Empire lasts forever.

Asians are the largest group in the world. Some anthrologists would say the most evolved. Their savvy blend of State capitalism is paying dividends. And its not just China. Vietnam, Indonesia. Malaysia, Singapore. These places are thriving economically and culturally. Middle America… is not… So far we’ve had a good run, we had our American century. But now… we have not competitive advantage. Not even universities… You can go to Yale on iTunes from Bangalore. People here are watching Dancing with the Stars and Kardashians. NY and LA… thats all we got.

Again, I will not preach another gospel in order to appease non-Christians. I will converse with others, work in certain areas with others, and attempt to show them God’s love, but I will always agree with Jesus Christ when he said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

James RobisonNovember 24, 2012 at 12:43 amReply

Would you call Jesus Christ the only begotten son of God and the only way to heaven?

DeucePrezNovember 19, 2012 at 7:10 amReply

James:

I can only pray that your works with non-Christians isn’t tainted by your words here. If I read them correctly, you are dismissive of their morals, which are based on their beliefs and are judging them for their not following your faith.

If your goal is to “make them convert to your faith“, that’s not interfaith. That’s simply your slow attempt to deceive them to convert them.

Bottom line, if you’re even dealing with any group or individuals that are Muslim, if they knew how you thought about God/Allah….even after they took the time to explain it to you….just the language misunderstanding….and you maintained that haughty, arrogant stance, that would be the end of your so-called interfaith connection with them.

DeucePrezNovember 19, 2012 at 7:02 amReply

For you to make the statement: “I do not believe that Allah, for example, represents the true God. I believe ‘he’ is a false notion or even a diabolical counterfiet (sic)”, you only reveal your level of ignorance of a very commonly used language, Arabic. I’m sure that you mean counterfeit.

True, earlier, you broke down the Hebrew and Latin in the Bible for me (as if I didn’t know them), but you failed to understand the language, Arabic. No….not Arabic in the Bible…. Arabic spoken by your fellow Christians! Even Arab Christians refer to God as Allah. You DID ALREADY  know that fact, right?

Would you also argue with a man from France calling a “cat” a “le chat” and a man from Mexico calling it “un gato“??

DeucePrezNovember 19, 2012 at 6:46 amReply

By your statement “the scripture“, you are referring to the Bible. When I say “the scripture“, I refer to many texts. It doesn’t matter if I practice this religion or that religion. It only matters to those who follow that religion. Your statement is dismissive of other books of scripture and other religions, for that matter.

Allah teaches in the Holy Qur’an: (Bismillah-ir Rahman-ir Raheem) “And if all the trees on earth were pens and the ocean (were ink), with seven oceans behind it to add to its (supply), yet would not the words of Allah be exhausted (in the writing): for Allah is Exalted in Power, full of Wisdom.” Sura 31, ayat 27. In other words, no one text can contain ALL of the words spoken by God. So, contrary to what some want other to believe about Islam, it is not so dismissive of other faiths as it appears Christianity is.

By the way, thanks a lot for offering/inviting a former Christian to read the Bible. Depending on your age, I may have read it before you did. I don’t think I’d find anything new there that I hadn’t already seen.

Dear James,
I REALLY LOVED THIS ARTICLE, ESPECIALLY WITH THE LETTER ATTACHED FROM TWO CONCERNED AND LOVING PEOPLE FROM GERMANY.
I love the people and the country of the United States. I will continue to pray for this great country and will remember what King Jesus said, ” Seek first the Kingdom of God, and His Righteousness and (then) all these things shall be added unto you.”

James,
So well said! This article has come at the right time as Christians are recovering from shock at the events that occurred this past week. I believe our fervor was so intent, that we were blinded. We lost our focus in God Almighty and put our trust in humanity to save us. We do need to look at God’s perspective in this and not our own. Thank you so much for putting this article together. It is very evident that you were spiritually guided in your words. May God bless you for giving us the healing balm to renew our hope in God’s special plan He has for us. My prayers are with you!

Judgment has begun with the House of God, because of our rejection of HIM, His WORD and HIS WAYS, by those professing to “know” Him. We now have to apply the prayer of DANIEL9 to bring NATIONAL REPENTANCE to America for the mercy of God to bring the REMNANT into ONE ACCORD and stand on 2 Chronicles 7:14 and RESTORE the WHOLE NATION to its GOD GIVEN FOUNDATION and REMOVE the evildoers.

To DeucePrez;

I can appreciate and respect your position in regards to “God.” If I may, I would suggest that you prayerfully look closely at some scriptures in reference to the name of Jesus. You stated “The name Jesus appears a grand total of ZERO times in the Old Testament when it speaks of the creation and all of the prophets down to Malachi.” You are correct. I will also add that the name “Jesus” does not appear one time in the New Testament. It was not until the translation of the scriptures from Greek and Latin was the name “Jesus” used with a “J.” The English name “Jesus” is a derivation from Greek “Iesous” and the Latin “Iesus” version. The name “Jesus” commonly used in Christianity today did not exist and would not be spelled with the letter “J” until about 500 years ago. We also know in the Hebrew text the name used was “yÈshÙa” which is a contraction of yehÖshÙa.

However, the primary importance is not a debate in grammar, translations, derivations, and contractions, but divine interpretation. The interpretation of the word of God can only come from God himself; God interprets his own word by bringing it to pass, that is, by manifesting it. The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Timothy 3 “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”

This scripture infallibly gives testament that God, the Creator of the Old Covenant, became manifested in the flesh of “yÈshÙa, Iesous, Iesus, or Jesus” of the New Covenant. Likewise, in John 5 Jesus stated to the Pharisees “You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me.” There are many, many others for you to consider, but these two give divine witness to the interpretation of who “Iesous” was, is, and always will be. Every Messianic prophecy points to “Yeshua HaMashiach” and God, the eternal Spirit interpreted those prophecies by manifesting the fullness of the word in Jesus Christ. God Bless…

These things written in the German magazine, we know to be true if we know God’s Word. I cried and cried after the election results. But I do realize Obama’s defeat did not ensure God’s wrath would still not fall upon our country. I do believe his re-election now has us on a terrible and difficult path. I will not fear what may come. In our home and finances we have prepared for hard times ahead. My heart’s desire is to stand strong no matter what happens. And thanks to Simsons for their loving words of support. And to you, James and Betty, for your stand! God bless you all!

James RobisonNovember 15, 2012 at 5:39 pmReply

DP, I’m quite familiar with this sentiment, but it is not the claim of Jesus Christ. He says He’s the only way to God. Of course, not everyone believes in Him, but I do. Therefore, I cannot urge anyone to focus on whatever god they choose. I’m bound by my faith to only uphold Jesus Christ. Because Jesus allows free choice (we can believe in Him or not believe in Him), I am tolerant in society of every peaceful faith. But at the same time, I lift up Christ as the only way.

James RobisonNovember 16, 2012 at 6:37 pmReply

Read back and you’ll see my efforts working with people of other faiths. I am happy to work with others to achieve common goals, but I will not compromise the teachings of Christ. And it’s fairly obvious that Jesus wasn’t mentioned until His birth. None of His twelve disciples were mentioned in the OT, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t exist. As for all “gods” being one, I do not believe that Allah, for example, represents the true God. I believe “he” is a false notion or even a diabolical counterfeit.

DeucePrezNovember 15, 2012 at 12:23 pmReply

In essence, you’re saying that we all need to turn to God for our salvation. Ok. Novel idea.

Only problem with that is every religion teaches that, but you are only viewing God through your “Christian-colored glasses” ….. as if Christianity is the only faith that has high moral guidance.

I’m sure you know, though you may not be willing to admit it, that there are as many pseudo-Christians as there are those who are pseudo in other faiths (lip-profession, not practicing what they preach).

We all must focus or re-focus on God, no matter what our faith/religion is. That’s what America is really about! Many people, faiths, races & religions.

Det. Laurence St. JohnNovember 13, 2012 at 1:16 amReply

It is clear and evident that the kingdoms of this world are operating under the influence of Satan and God is permitting it. The earthly kingdoms are reeling under the impact of Satan’s mission to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. His deception is everywhere. His lies dominate and control earthly powers. His murderous nature has left a bloody trail from the Garden of Eden. His antichrist religion and doctrine has blinded the hearts and minds of many on a global scale. In America, Satan’s church is gaining influence at a rapid pace and his messengers are leading many down the broad way of destruction. Satan’s religion and doctrine is comprised of a deceptive blend of politics, religion, and supernatural fallen angels which subtly leads the masses into seeking pleasure in unrighteousness and the end is death.

Yes, America has spoken; give us the god we want to serve. Give us the god who will make us feel good, ignore our filth and perversion, and support our rights to live according to our sinful desires. Give us the god who does not require repentance and righteous living. This is what America wants and has settled for.

In light of the American condition, I will leave these scriptures for prayerful meditation. May the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ bless each of you who have contributed words of inspiration which speaks of the critical time we live.

John 8 “Then said Jesus again to them, I go my way, and you will seek me, and will die in your sins: where I go, you cannot come. Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? Because he says, where I go, you cannot come. And he said to them, you are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. I said therefore to you, that you will die in your sins: for if you believe not that I am he, you will die in your sins.”

In Luke 4 “the devil took Jesus up into a high mountain, showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to him, all this power will I give you, and the glory of the kingdoms: for this glory and power of the kingdoms are delivered to me; and to whosoever I will, I give it. If you therefore will worship me, all will be yours. And Jesus answered and said to him, Get behind me, Satan: for it is written, you will worship the Lord your God, and him only will you serve.”

In John 18 we find this scene; “Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, are you the King of the Jews? Jesus answered him, do you say this of yourself, or did others tell you this concerning me? Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered you to me: what have you done? Jesus answered, my kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from this world.”

Luke 17 tells us that “Jesus was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come and he answered them and said, The kingdom of God comes not with observation: Neither will they say, Lo here! Or, lo there! For, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”

In John 3 “there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher from God: for no man can do these miracles that you do, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said to him, Verily, verily, I say to you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God…He that comes from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaks of the earth: he that comes from heaven is above all. And what he has seen and heard, that he testifies; and no man receives his testimony. He that has received his testimony has set to his seal that God is true. For he who God has sent speaks the words of God: for God gives not the Spirit by measure unto him. The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand. He that believes on the Son has everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son will not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him.

Hebrews 12; “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man will see the Lord: Looking diligently unless any man fail of the grace of God; unless any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; Unless there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For you know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

For you are not come to the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more: (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it would be stoned, or thrust through with a dart: And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)

But you have come to mount Sion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better things than that of Abel.

See that you refuse not him that speaks. For if they did not escape who refused him that spoke on earth, how much more will we not escape, if we turn away from him that speaks from heaven: Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he has promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receive a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.”

Grace to all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.

Opinions.. everybody has one BUT what did God say? Now, if we’re praying tht Obama does not make it into office & God says different this wld be called “psychic prayers.” I agreed with what was said until we got to the letter.. men of God had already said last yr tht Obama was gonna win & tht the election wld be tricky & hv a sudden turn @ the end, they also said there will be a flag flying half mast for a few days & we need to pray for America cause America’s gonna be in an uphieval (watch ur prayers!!). We shld SEEK God concerning our actions. Being tht BOTH candidates were ungodly we shld have been praying & PUSHING PPL TO PRAY instead of pushing ppl against the one we, not God, PERSONALLY wanted to win. A MORMON! (Mormons believe Jesus & the devil are brothers) That’s who u “prayed” for?! How ’bout we pray God’s will be done next time cause Obama won according to what God has planned… smh. Pray for God’s will to be done next time. ps Romney’s state was the FIRST TO LEGALIZE SAME SEX MARRIAGE, in other words, we were in trouble waaaaay b4 Obama, THIS IS NOT AN OBAMA thing this is an AMERICA thing. Gov, Sen, Mayor were making ungodly decisions & ppl of God haven’t been on our jobs cause they’ve been in a SLUMBER! So now tht we’ve pointed fingers let’s point prayers, agendas, & hearts towards the Will of God!

FOR CLARITY:

I’m not suggesting that anyone focus on a “god“. To some people, certain creations are a “god”. Just because our theologies differ, that does not mean we are worshiping a different Creator. There is only ONE. And it’s GOD that allows free choice. The name Jesus appears a grand total of ZERO times in the Old Testament when it speaks of the creation and all of the prophets down to Malachi.

Ad don’t be deceived by the different languages (Aramaic, Hebrew, Greek, Arabic, etc.). God is God (NOTE: Upper case “G”. He is ONE.

I don’t advocate worshiping the creations of God, but I’m not trying to creating a wedge issue either. I’m more into finding that which we have in common and building relationships. I guess you’re completely opposed to interfaith activities, huh?

Hi there….I realize that you have your input about such…and really most did feel the same way til? til GOD presented Himself to them. You see it isn’t about us believing in GOD…it is about GOD revealing himself to us that now believe. Many go to churches just cause the practice in their own family has been such for many generations…but just going to a church and singing songs or going to church picnics makes GOD real to a person. Even feeding the poor or doing good works which are needed doesn’t make GOd real to someone, they just feel better doing so. So the fact you even showed up on time to post what you did means something is drawing you to see if there really is a GOD, not you seeking to tell others there isn’t.
So if it is true that God IS DRAWING YOU TO HIM…THEN CLICK ON THIS LINK AND READ MY STORY WHICH HE GAVE ME TO SHARE WITH YOU AND OTHERS….AND PLS DO ENJOY THE VIDEO. I addressed it to a senator as I could see that indeed like James has said in his other topic..,.this nation needs led by its real father.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/biblepostcards/4476568909/
thank you …I greet you as another human made by GOD who cares about you and what GOD has called us to have with each other. The word ‘GOD’ in itself isn’t what it is all about (as many use names portraying many a god)…it is about believing in a higher power of intelligence and design…that is awesome and certainly responsible as the Architect over all there is…how He does it, I don’t know. I just know I didn’t know He existed til I asked out loud by myself ‘if there really is a GOD , please let me know, reveal it to me….and He heard me and told me of His Son. Just the two of us…and then I found there is a battle and it is by His Spirit that I can proceed.
Btw…your point about material goods gets explained as you learn of Him as it isn’t about material goods though those are important…it is about what you learn from Him that allows you to understand how those goods fit into your life and your calling. James has learned that.

jukkerNovember 13, 2012 at 5:57 pmReply

I am sorry to inform you, but really there is no god. He is a figment of our imagination, and still provides a useful structure for some people, but really he is not real. Christians have been talking of their god for centuries now, and yet the world keeps on progressing, becoming ever more ungodly, and yet god does not intervene. Your only hope is that the majority of mankind remains poor, because, one thing is clear from history, when people have material wealth and a sense of control over their lives, then god goes up on a shelf.

James RobisonNovember 14, 2012 at 7:00 pmReply

There are far more Christians now than there were in the first century, even as the wealth of the world has increased. There are more Bibles, more churches, more ministers, and more openly Christian societies now more than ever in the history of mankind. So you’ve got your history a bit backwards.

You stated:

“SO WHAT BOOK WILL OBAMA CHOOSE TO SWEAR ON? FOR THIS NEXT TERM…OR WILL HE BE IMPEACHED BY THEN?”

&

“one nation under GOD” and the president lays his hand on the book (the BIBLE) and swears allegiance to uphold our Consititution , and the tradition continues…OR DOES IT?”

That’s rather silly. After all, Pres. Obama is a Christian. Haven’t we heard more than enough from seditious-idiots-masquerading-as-patriots like Dumbold (Donald) Trump and other denying the President’s country of birth and his Christian religion??

Even if Pres. Obama was a Muslim…. SO WHAT??!! There’s no legitimate law that states that the President of the United States of American CAN’T BE a Muslim or MUST BE a Christian.

If nothing else, this election cycle proves that some so-called Christians will vote for a non-Christian (Romney)…..so long as he opposes a Black man…..who those on the fringes of society have dubbed “a Muslim”.

James RobisonNovember 24, 2012 at 12:42 amReply

So now we get to the heart of it. You vote based on race. That’s fine, many people have voted on race, religion, region, gender, and other common identities. But you make an intellectual and factual mistake when you presume that everyone votes based on the same criteria as you. Your race-based vote cannot be projected onto everyone else.

On the issue of Romney’s voters, he received about 1.5 million fewer than John McCain did four years ago. This against an incumbent who has some of the worst economic numbers in modern history, plus a few foreign policy debacles that would have doomed others. The evangelical participation in the election this year was 4% lower than 2008. Evangelicals were actually very reluctant to vote for a Mormon, despite his values being more similar than those of President Obama. Yet your bias doesn’t stop you from making such a low and unfounded charge. It does, however, expose your agenda.

I disagree that no principles of faith were present at the founding of our country. There is simply too much evidence to the contrary. Tolerance of other viewpoints is not the absence of principles. In fact, one of the principles of Christianity is that one has the right to believe it or reject it.

My lack of endoresement for non-Christian views is not ignorace of them. In fact, it’s the opposite. I don’t reject them because I’ve never heard of them, but because I don’t believe them! Of course I realize they exist. I don’t ignore them. I reject them.

I am happy for other faiths to join in prayer, but I don’t think they actually reach God. I wouldn’t advocate praying to a tree stump, but if someone wants to do that, they can.

Republican slur aside, I recognize the wrong and right from people in both parties. That’s why I’m not interested in the agenda of a donkey or elephant, but of the Lamb (an analogy for Jesus Christ.)

Here’s my point:

The United States of America was not founded on the principles or faith of Christianity! Period. If it were and there was some mandate that all citizen had to be Christians or convert to said religion, I doubt that there would be as many immigrants (voluntary immigrants) coming to the country.

Having such an edict would be contrary to the Constitution of the United States, itself!

While it’s more than obvious most on your blog are promoting Christianity only, how can you blindly ignore that the citizens of the USA represent many different faiths? Why couldn’t you suggest that all people of faith “….pray for our President and pursue the fact that God is in charge and God can change circumstances.” Perhaps, non-Christians don’t necessarily want to be in-line with Christian views. Not everyone here is a Christian. Would you, a Christian, want to conform to Buddhist views? Why not? Because you’re not a Buddhist? Even within Christianity, there are differing, even opposing views.

You should realize that not even all Christians have the same viewpoints. Look at the so-called Christian viewpoints expressed by RepubliCONs during this past presidential election cycle vs. the Christian viewpoints of Democrats.

I think we need to call Christians to pray for our President and pursue the fact that God is in charge and God can change circumstances, decisions that may not be in line with our Christian views. I don’t think looking negatively on the outcome is good for any of us. We need to know God is Sovereign and He is still God and will take care of His children. God bless America!

After reading your comments James and the letter from Wolfgang and Mercy Simson, I can only say Amen. This letter should be read many times, meditated on, and prayerfully applied. Amen again, my dear Christian friends…

So you need ammunition to hold politicians responsible..and you and I and others need to research, be informed, check the facts, …the people that mostly elected Obama most likely never bothered to look at the GSA scandal, the Fast & Furious scandal, and now the talk of the Benghazi…so here I give you a chance to learn more (i provided links of info)…it is that the truth is in front of everyone but a spirit is keeping some from believing when they need to…think of a woman being betrayed by her husband and you as a friend find it hard to keep shut about it but dont want to lose both their friendships…so you wait til til it is so evident that you see her find out about it…well will you then tell her that she should put the bum out …or will you encourage her to still live with him while he cheats??
Doing nothing doesn’t help your friends or your government….Here is a question you can copy and send this question and links to whomever to help equip them.

SO WHAT BOOK WILL OBAMA CHOOSE TO SWEAR ON? FOR THIS NEXT TERM…OR WILL HE BE IMPEACHED BY THEN? (i mean I am hearing many say that the benghazi is a cover up and what shall we do?…they should have listened to Dennis Kucinich and impeached obama went he went against the Constitution regarding Libya…laxity of that is what is costing us the Constitutional government we are accustomed to)

“one nation under GOD” and the president lays his hand on the book (the BIBLE) and swears allegiance to uphold our Consititution , and the tradition continues…OR DOES IT?
in 2008 they forgot to bring the Bible to the inauguaral address (forgot?) so he swore at a private meeting, THEN at the democratic convention the Republicans complained that the dems were leaving out reference to GOD and they let Him back in…and in interviews Obama insisted that America should learn about more about islam which curiously when did any President state that we should learn more about Christianity and I thought i heard Obama say he was a ‘christian”…(not pushing that though) (I guess the ‘fear of the Lord’ hasn’t happened for him yet..that’s when wisdom comes)

….and now it is 2012 and half of America thinks he has lied….so what book will he choose or will he stay with the tradition? I mean he wouldn’t swear allegiance to the flag til he made sure that he told the overseas arabs that ‘america is not a christian nation’ then he came back and would put his hand in allegiance to the flag? I know it doesn’t make sense..but it is time you started looking at these peculiar fruit that doesn’t match what the typical american over the age of 50 is used to…like I said after he told the arabs that America is not a Christian nation…then he found it easier to swear allegiance under GOd (cause the name of Jesus isn’t mentioned and there was no Bible in his hand)

(guess he let them know)..SO WHAT BOOK WILL HE CHOOSE IF ANY or does someone choose it for him (was this supposed to be part of the changes he platformed on?) (was this part of the deal for you also?) (or is this part of the whole problem? is it ‘one nation under GOD’ that our veterans fought wars for? or is it ‘one nation under Obama?….which is it?) (or do we just switch God to another one?) (thought that book that He swore on states in the ten commandments, ‘thou shall worship the Lord thy GOD and Him only shall ye serve”….it is indeed , the battle belongs to the Lord).

hey, I am not making this up…these things are really happening! I just am a writer and historian researcher. I usually don’t remember what color someone’s eyes are…but I tell you after doing some research on Obama’s peculiar christian fruit…..I must say I remember that it doesn’t seem to bear the fruit that that saying of ‘one nation under GOD’ used to mean.
BTW…does or did anyone even bother to ask GOD if He wanted to be the God over our nation? did we wait for his answer or did we just vote Him in also? But which one did we vote in or do we have a book for each GOD for a new President to swear on?

We cannot simply sit down and shut up after this. Please remember that while we don’t have as much influence over outcomes as we may wish, we can still fight to hold politicians accountable. We must exercise our rights, especially our right to speak freely. I believe there still are enough good people in this country to fight evil. And we must try because evil will flourish if we do nothing. Have courage. It looks bleak today. The future for ourselves and our children and our grandchildren looks impossibly dark and full of suffering. But we can and must fight to turn this around. If we simply give up and give away our rights then we will have no one to blame for our misery but ourselves. Whatever Governor Romney decides to do for his future, I wish him and his family the absolute best and thank them all for their attempted service to this country.

Although America benefited from the participation of godly men and biblical ideals during its founding, it is a republic that derives the right to rule from its people. As people have moved away from strongly held Christian convictions, so have its institutions. And refuses to acknowledge God’s role as creator of the universe and rejects the moral structure that He made part of its existence. It also rejects the need for a savior. It’s not that there is no support for Christian virtue left in America, but that the predominant set of values found in our major institutions no longer reflects a biblical worldview.

What would happen if Texas seceded? Many may not know this, but Texas governed itself for 9 years before becoming annexed by the US government. Maybe one day Texas will secede the union.

All of us desire to see our culture transformed into a reflection of God’s truth, justice, and mercy. However, we also need to acknowledge the role of providence in both the timing and the extent of any future cultural revival. America has experienced awakenings in the past and God has certainly used individuals and organizations to realign our culture with His character. But ultimately the timing and the manner of revival is in God’s hands and it will be accomplished by those who see themselves as ambassadors sharing Christ.

Whenever government becomes destructive of these ends (life, liberty, pursuit of happiness), it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute a new government.
Declaration of Independence of the American Colonies, 1776

We now face the end of the America I loved and grew up in. My grandchildren will never know that America. This has been the best country on earth. And now fifty percent of our neighbors no longer want responsible freedom and the joy of feeling the accomplishment in “building that.” I never thought this country would go that way …ever.
This country could only fall from within. And we’re heading down that path now on purpose. By choice. By vote.
The moral majority has become a moral minority.

The rise and fall of each nation can be a sad testimony as we alternately respect and dis-respect God. But how does one enjoy the Kingdom model “of the increase of His Kingdom there shall be no end?”

Psalm 110 is open for rich mining of a few principles that speak to this.

1. “my people offer themselves freely” When we lay down our personal agendas and take up what ever the royal scepter (the Holy Spirit) wants to do power and victory and refreshment results.

2. Notice that in this Psalm no one is working on their own issues, not the Son, not the Father, not the Holy Spirit (he never speaks of himself), and not God’s people.

God was on the throne last week. He’s still there this week. He’s in a good mood (peace on earth good will toward men). Lay it down. Hide His Word in your heart. Seek His face. Wait for Him to speak. Do whatever He says. Enjoy His favor and pleasure. Tomorrow, thank him for His faithfulness to you yesterday and praise His life in you today. Hmmm, Life Today. Nice phrase…

Thank you for your insightful article. In my view, God is dealing with the United States in much the same way He did with Israel back in the 29th chapter of the Book of Jeremiah. Thankfully, He is the same yesterday, today and forever; (consider 1 Corinthians 10:11). I am reminded of the reference in Psalm 103 to the fact that while the Hebrews saw His works, Moses on the other hand knew His ways. Our Father is predictable. God does have a plan and purpose for this great nation but we will only be able to enter into the fulfillment of it through death; a personal and a national humbling of ourselves. From a Kingdom perspective, this (the outcome of the recent election) is the greatest thing that could have happened for this nation. As stated in Hebrews 12, it was an expression of God’s love and compassion for His people, and this nation He founded for His people and for His purposes over 200 years ago. Our best days are truly ahead if we will heed the instructions spelled out for us in Jeremiah 29:11-14. It’s time for each of us individually and for all of us collectively to turn to Him and to hear and respond to what He wants to show us! (Jim Abbondante)
